Why You Need a Word Perfectionist

You’ve probably heard the current business conversation about letting go of perfection.  Advice telling you that being a perfectionist can slow down your progress.  That waiting for everything to be “perfect” somehow can be painfully limiting.

This will surprise you, but I actually agree with that advice.

In fact, it’s really the best advice if you want to get your business producing income quickly.

But it doesn’t mean you can just forget about perfection.  Quite the opposite: If you’re doing business online, you need a perfectionist on your team.  Someone operating in stealth mode in the background, just like a secret agent, quietly making sure you impress your customers with quality and credibility.

If you’re writing to your prospects and customers online, they are making buying decisions based on what you show them.  And that means everything you show them: the writing in your blog, ebook, and autoresponder email sequence; the structure of your PowerPoint presentations; even subtle things like consistent formatting and properly labeled graphics and image tags.

Your written content is one of the first places to either lose or gain customers.   When content isn’t as polished as it could be, is visually inconsistent, or even looks like it was thrown together at the last minute,  it makes customers question its value.  It makes them question its credibility.

Why You Miss Your Own Mistakes

As the writer you know what you mean to say and how it’s supposed to read.  Consequently, that’s what your mind will see on the page or screen when you proofread and do a final edit of things yourself.  It’s called mental overlay and it’s something everyone does.

A key ingredient to top quality writing is having a second (or third) set of eyeballs proofreading your material. Someone who actually can’t help but notice even the subtle details of a presentation that may have been overlooked.  Someone whose secret mission is to polish and perfect things as best as humanly possible. That way your audience is presented with the absolute best, most professional, credible content around.

The Perfect Formula: Quality + Credibility

Credible content makes you credible.  Quality content makes your work and your business more desirable. Ultimately this makes you more cash.  Now that’s PERFECT!
